enviSMART - Turning environmental challenges
into business opportunities
One of the European Commission's important aims is to transform
ecological challenges into economic opportunities, above all for
small and medium-sized enterprises. Against this background, seven
European projects co-funded by the EU were recently launched which
give SMEs better access to advice and assistance in the area of
environmental protection.
One of these projects is enviSMART, led by ZENIT GmbH. enviSMART
focuses on the areas of chemicals, production and processing of
metals, and surface treatment - sectors which throughout Europe
still display a major need for support from external service providers
with regard to environmental protection. The aim of this pilot project
is to help SMEs in Greece, Slovakia and Malta to reduce their environmental
impact and strengthen their market position as a result, by using
tried and tested methods and experience from Germany, Denmark and
Italy.
The Launch Meeting of the enviSMART project, in which all consortium
partners participated, took place in early May in Mülheim an
der Ruhr, Germany.
ZENIT is also a partner in a second, Italian-led project - SWITCH4FOOD
- which targets better use and improved purification of waste water
in the food sector.
